Why JAVA is not getting loaded

Postby shrutibajaj » August 16th, 2018, 1:27 pm

Hi all,
I have downloaded Vassal 3.2.17.
Installing it, I get, at about 1/3 of the process, the message "Java could not be loaded, timeout".
I have MAC OS X Sierra
Can anybody help please?
Thanks in advance!

Same thing may happen when installing on a Win system ...at least is has for me.

Just run a google search for Java Download, manually download and install the latest Java and then re-install Vassal. Should install just fine.

Are you sure you have a Java version installed?
Did you recently update to Sierra?
MacOS now doesn't usually include any version of Java.

One quick way to check would be to look at the System Preferences (From the Apple  menu). In the bottom row, there should be a control panel for "Java". If that isn't there, you will need to install Java. You can get more information about that at https://java.com/en/download/faq/java_mac.xml and https://java.com/en/download/help/mac_install.xml
