Mp3 rather than WAV

Any possibility of mp3 replacing wav for sound effects?
It would save alot of space in mb.

I have added an RFE to add mp3 support in a future revision. There appears to be a suitable LGPL open source library (JLayer) available, so it should not be too hard.
