Play Solitaire

I have about 30 board War Games, so I'm familiar with how most of them work.
Where do I find rules for a particular game that will tell me how to play that game on Vassal?
I can't find anything that states, ie "to move press this", "to do battle press this", to retreat press this", etc.
What am I missing?

Vassal is "manually" operated for the most part.

Some vassal makers may "automate" certain features for ease of play

but at its essence, Vassal provides the map and pieces and lets the player do what he wants...
