Server Connection Display

…no longer seems to be working…well maybe it is, but seems unlikely the same and number of ppl have been playing for the past 9 hours. I really enjoy being able to see who is playing what.

I have been trying to connect all day, unsuccessfully. For a while I assumed that since Server Status showed people on the server, it must be up. But then I noticed the number of people never changed all day.

Since it’s my first time trying to connect, I don’t know if it’s a problem on my end or the server.

Figured out my connection problem (router has a setting to block IM ports, which apparently overrides any specific port settings, and VASSAL uses an IM port…) but the current status window is indeed still not updating with any new information.

It doesn’t just seem to be not working, it’s definitely not working,
because connection data is no longer being put into the database which
feeds the script which reports the data.

This is someting I’ve already tried to fix, but wasn’t able to figure
out where the connection data is coming from. Given that, I can’t do
much about it until Rodney is back from holiday—I’m assuming that he
can tell me how it worked before.

The display of current connections is fixed now.

The displays of connections from the past day, week, and month are still
being repaired.

The server history is fixed now on the server side.

However:

(1) The connections from the past day/week/month won’t be a complete list
until sometime tomorrow/next week/next month, due to the fact that there
is presently no connection data in the database predating yesterday.

(2) In migrating the scripts for this to the new server, I found a bug
in the way that VASSAL 3.1.14 (and earlier) handle the output, namely that
in the connection history you’ll only see one entry with each timestamp.
(For example, if you compare the current connections to the connections
in the past 24 hours, you’ll find some connections missing from the latter.)

I’ve already corrected this in the 3.1 branch, so you’ll find this bug fixed
in the upcoming 3.1.15 release.

Posting messages by module also works again.

We have a new server status page on the site:

vassalengine.org/status.php

However, it’s not linked from anywhere in the site navigation et, as I haven’t settled on where the link should be. If anyone has a suggestion, please let me know.
