Eclipse - newbie game PBEM

Postby Shadoglare » July 24th, 2012, 12:58 pm

Have been wanting to check this one out - don't own it yet, but I've read over the manual and think I've got the basics down - anybody else interested in trying a PBEM session?

I'd like to give it a try. Have the game but haven't played. Read the rules a
couple of times and watched some videos on Youtube.

OK, cool. I'll probably hang on for another couple of days to see if we can get a 3rd.

If you are still looking for more players, I'd be interested. I've played twice face to face.

Yup, we could still use another.
Have both of you guys played PBEM games using Vassal logs before?

I have - I prefer dropbox, but email is OK also.

You know I've heard of people doing this but I've never quite understood how it's supposed to work. Isn't your "public" drive read-only for anybody except yourself?

You can create a 'shared' folder, with access by invite only. It is working well for a game of Virgin Queen I'm playing. But we just put the vassal logs there, and run the game through ACTS. So maybe if the game is entirely done in VASSAL emailing might be better - that way at least you get a notice when it is your turn.

Actually I was wondering how that worked too - sort of a "don't you have to send an email to let them know their turn is up anyway?" kind of thing

OK if you guys can PM me your email addresses I can get the game up and going this weekend.

I just tried this game for the first time this weekend. So cool! I'd love to play by email.

If you can PM your email address to me asap I'll restart for 4 players - were only a couple of steps into turn 1 so it shouldn't be too big of a deal to add you in

Let me know if this game wraps up and you need another player. I'm a big fan of Eclipse, but rarely get it to the table due to the time involved. I'm a newbie at both Eclipse and Vassal.
