Scaling issues

Hey

I’m putting a home-made board game into vassal for testing purposes, and having some issues with scaling. I’m sure I came across this before, but I’'m a little rusty and the solution escapes me.

I have a board that has been created with ‘deck’ markers, all to scale - however when I put the deck on my board in vassal, the deck and cards turn out to be several times larger than the spaces on the board, like the board is being shrunk at some point.

Any ideas what I’ve missed?

Thanks

Vassal doesn’t scale anything so to speak, it only uses zooming and
magnification - those do not alter an image’s scale relative to one
another. Images are the size they are related to one another on a 1 to 1 pixel
basis. So if your decks are larger than your board’s deck image space it is
because they are that way outside of vassal too.

You need to use your graphic program of choice to see how things look against
one another by placing them in the same window. If things dont match up you have
to scale the required images with your graphic program to make it work before
bringing them into vassal

I have a related issue here. I have a game board in two sizes. If I use the small one, I have to scale the cards accordingly, what makes them unreadable. If I choose the large one, it is way to large to be used for a comfortable game without zooming out.

Is there a way to make this zoom out a permanent feature (not to be made every time you start a game) of the module? This totally would solve my problem. Any other ideas you can think of?

Thanks in advance!

Select the default zoom level you want, and press the “Set Initial”
button in the properties dialog for the Zoom component of the map.
