Translating into English

I’m not sure whether this is a bug, or I’m just doing something wrong, but I don’t know where else to put this.

The problem is that english translation won’t work in my module. I created a module and now want to “translate” it with an extension into english. However, when I add the translation from English → Any Country, my translated text won’t show, when I start the module (with the regular open command, not the edit command). Other languages do work, for example German or Spanish, but not English. What could be the reason for this?

Any idea how this could be solved or what the actual problem is here?

It’s a bad design, but the “untranslated” locale is English, and
everything else is a translation.

I’m not sure that is quite true. The untranslated locale has no defined language and is displayed by default unless another language is available and is selected by choosing a new language from the Preferences language drop-down. it can be translated into any language including English.

Note that changing the language in Preferences does not take effect until you exit the module and restart it.

I could not reproduce the problem - I was able to over-ride an untranslated module text with an English translation in a small test module. If you are still having problems, please post a link to your module.

It’s possible I’m remembering incorrectly. I thought we once had a
discussion about there being no way to create English translations.

There is also an interaction with the current locale set on the
computer. I can certainly create and use an English translation, but the
language on my PC is set to English. There may be a problem if your
regional settings have a non-english language. I’m too tired to reboot
and try…
