messages scroll up too fast to read

When I load my self designed module I get a line or maybe 2 lines of error messages in the dialog box but they disappear immediately. I’d like to be able to read them - is there a way to stop them scrolling up out of sight?

I am using the latest Vassal 3.2.11 on an iMac with Mavericks installed.

What dialog box do you mean?

Please post the module so we can have a look.

It’s my own module - I wrote it from scratch

I mean the bit at the top where messages from the system and from other players - or your own messages typed in appear.

It looks like a line and a half of text which then immediately disappears.

It’s a big module - 100GB - and not really ready for publication but if there is a way I can send it to you I will - just not sure how to go about sending such an enormous file.

The message pane has a scroll bar. If you can’t see it, this probably
means your message pane is not very tall. Try pulling down the divider
between the message pane and the map.

It is not that the screen won’t scroll or is too small - it appears then seems to move up out of the message box - I can’t just scroll it back on or enlarge the area in order to see this message.

My module seems to be free from errors at present and works as I intend it too - so it is just a curiosity really.

Thanks for your input anyway.

After a bit of squinting at the screen I think it is flashing up the names of all the buttons in the menu bar - then when it’s loaded them and their icons they disappear.

Please post a screenshot of this. I think we’re not talking about the
same things.

I’m putting an image on my blog to show the problem - which as you can see is not an error message but actually the names of various buttons that are usually part of multi-action buttons or menus flashing up as I thought. It took me a few goes to snap it with the screenshot as it happens very fast.

That is what’s happening. Those buttons not in the message page, but in
the button bar above it. I take it that the loading of images for those
buttons is lagging a bit?

J.

The lag is minimal - it just flicks up and then goes in a fraction of a second so is a non-issue.

I was only worried because it looked like an error message that was not displaying long enough to read.

Thanks for the prompt replies - I think it’s sorted out now.
