A victory denied

Someone interested in play AVD?

IT would be in real time, and if posible, in european times.

Hi there!
I had problems to turn the “AVD”-VP counters using Vassal.
Have you ever tried this?

Since my game partner and I were not able to turn the VP Counters, we did not continue playing AVD (although it is a great game!).
If you have a solution for this problem, please let me know.

We may meet us online and try to turn the VP Counters if you want to.
Just drop me a line.
EU Time is fine - especially in the evenings.

Best,
Peter

Only the Soviet player can flip the VP counters. The likely cause of
your problem is that you were trying to flip them as observer or as
the German player.

Hi!
Well, I have tried to play AVD online with a friend.
Think you should be able to reveal a VP chit if you rightclick them.

If you (German or Russian side) try to reveal a VP chit, you get following hint if you rightclick the 2nd time: “Unlock - Wainting for Axis”. The problem is that the other player gets almost the same info after rightclicking the same VP chit: “Unlock - Waiting for Soviet”.

Because of this it was never possible for us to reveal the chits and unfortunately we were never able to play this GREAT game.
It would be great if you would help us!

Best,
Peter

Ah, right. You do have to unlock them with both sides. That’s the
expected behavior. I now don’t understand what it is that you think
isn’t working.

J.

Hi!
Yes, BOTH sides have to unlock the VP chits.
But if the Russians unlock a VP chit and then the Germans unlock the same VP chit, BOTH sides still get the hint that they have to wait until the other side unlocks it!?
It doesn’t matter which side unlocks first in an online game, you always have the same problem. :frowning:
Since it is one of our favorite games, it would be nice if you could help us.
Have tried this with two friends and the same results.

Best,
Peter

Example:
Russians rightcklick to reveal.
Then the Germans rightclick to reveal.
The VP-chit is still locked!?
If the Russians or Germans rightcklick the same chit again, you get the hint that you have to wait until the other side unlocks it!?
Hope the problem is clear!?

That doesn’t happen for me. Maybe you should ask the maintainer of
the module about it.

Think you also have to rightclick on a VP chit to agree that this chit can be revealed.
Or is there another “Okay”-button to allow that a VP-chit can be revealed if the other side has rightclicked before?

How do you reveal a VP- chit?
Both sides have to rightclick on it, haven’t they?

If you have 5 minutes free time, we can try now to reveal a chit online. ;-)

The ‘Victory Chit Reveal’ feature of AVD is a piece of custom code I wrote for that module. I have reviewed that code and it is very simple. The only thing I can see that can go wrong is that if one or both of you are playing as Observer, instead of one taking the Axis side and one taking the Soviet side.

Could you please post a log file of the problem occuring.

Regards,
Brent.

Hi Brent,
Thank you very much for your help.
My friend and I will play at Vassal in a week.
Then I will send you a logfile.
Best,
Peter

Hi AVD Players,

I have uploaded version 1.7 of the module to the Vassal module page that should resolve the problems you have been having with revealing VP chits.

Regards,
Brent.
