The Longest Day.

Hello

How do I get to edit the Allied Naval Gunfire Control Display. Looks like it is file called Allied_Naval_Gunfire_Control_Display.svg but where do I find it?

Looks like I need some sort of editor or what? I can drill down the folder structure but I never reach any file I can edit.

What am I missing?

The file is in the images directory inside the module.

You need an SVG editor, such as Inkscape, to edit SVG (unless you want
to do it by hand in a text editor).

J.

But I can’t see that file.

Can you step me through it?

Best regards
Peter

oh bugger…

Scratch that. The vmod is a zip file.

Is this module modified for the proposed 2nd edition of The Longest Day?

I’m asking because the 12ss is normally put on the german strategic track on June the 6th and in the module it is shown for the 7th which for 2nd edition would be too late for the possible mechanized movement off the track in June the 7th turn.

Are the original module designers still around? Maybe I could get in contact with them in a few weeks from now to discuss some additions.

What a humongeous work they have put into this!

No. The module reflects the game as published, with the addenda
published in The General applied.

Yes. I’m the original module designer.

J.

Ok.

How about adding combat tabels, TEC and Sequence of Play tabels?

Peter

Were someone to prepare those as SVG, I’d consider adding them to the
module.

J.

Ok. I’ll return in August. Let’s see if I can handle that. I’ve never tried modifying a VASSAL module. I might need some advice at that point.

You don’t need to modify the module. I’d add the SVG were I given it.

Hello.

How do I change the counters?

The third battalion of the D+1 Air Drop Phase for Drop Zone “W” is shown as a Glider type unit in the game but as a Paratrooper in the module. It should also be named as 3/325 not 3/505

Also the defensive value for the 4th US Inf division is 5 in the module. In the game it is 6.

Peter

Hi, got the TLD module and the rules (from boardgame geek site) but can’t seem to find the combat results table anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello todk.

They are not there but as you can read further up uckelman will add them if provided as svg files. I’m working on finding some sparetime to do this.

I also have found some corrections need here and there.

Read from the top of the thread.

Have you checked these against the errata?

J.

Hello J.

Yes I have. I use a document called ltdconer.com which can be found at grognard.com/wargamerfiles/tldconer.doc. The links says consolidated errata (Word file).

Two howitzers for the 82nd Airborne are also missing. The actual counters were issued with The General vol 28, no 6 and can be found at boardgamegeek.com/filepage/10059/gen28-6zip

Furthermore the strength of the US CAs should be 6 apiece not 4.

Risking being viewed as nitpicking but what is the German Divisional HQ for 272 doing with 12ss on 7 June in Rouen? Looks like the I/26 (a 9-10-6) halftrack infantry battalion is missing but it is among the counters in the module.

Travelling now. I’ll have a look at this when I’m home next.

J.

Hey ok!

Hope I don’t tick you off. It is quite a huge piece of work you’ve done here.

No, why would you think that? I appreciate being told of errors. I can’t
correct them otherwise.
