starting with vassal

Hi,

I am new to this scene…
I have played some games so I know what Vassal is…
But before I jup in the tutorials , I have a question.

I woul like to make a (cycling) game where there is a track (oval) and where the movement of the riders is guided via a stack of poker cards…

Can this be build using the vasal engine? or do I know something about Java-programming?

greetz,

Ludo

Thus spake “Ludonws”:

I don’t see why not. That sounds pretty straightforward.

Take a look at the “Win, Place, and Show” module for ideas. This is a horse
racing game.

Remember that what the module does is just provide the track, rider
tokens and cards. The actual movement in response to the card draws
will be done by the players, just like a table-top game. That greatly
simplifies what you need to do.

You should not need to know Java programming for this.

That’s because Vassal doesn’t actually play the game, but just
provides the on-screen pieces.
