PoR is a political influence game for 2-4 players covering the Act of Union between England & Scotland which took place in 1707 and which was almost followed by a Scottish rebellion in 1708. Players influence or control spaces on the board using cubes. They play cards to determine just how and where they can place (or remove) cubes on any given turn. After every 4th such card is played, a Season (or event) card must be played instead; this also advances the game to a new Season (or round). Scoring is asymmetric. Toward the end of the game, players score to see if the Union occurs. In a 2-player game, one player can win outright if the Union does not occur, and in a 3 or 4 player game a different player might also win outright, depending on the VP spread. Otherwise the game continues until final scoring, which uses a different set of VPs and represents the success or failure of the rebellion and which faction has taken control of the country.
